Protisa S.A., is an ambitious project that started at the end of 2009, located near the municipality of Gachancipa, Cundinamarca, being one of the largest tissue paper manufacturing plants in Latin America. The estimated production for this plant is 2 000 tons of tissue paper per month, which compromises an infrastructure of great projection and support. Industrias Ectricol is present in this project, in association with Codensa Servicios and other important contractors of the industrial sector.
The electrical project carried out by Industrias Ectricol, includes a turnkey module for a 16 MVA load, distributed in 6 substations of which 3 are completed and in service. Industrias Ectricol participated with the electrical design, with the provision of 100% of medium voltage and 40% of low voltage, which includes among others, distribution switchboards, bar ducts and capacitor banks. Additionally, it is in charge of the installation, assembly and commissioning of the provided equipment.
The magnitude of the project is such that the electrical capacity involved in this plant could feed a small town. Therefore, the technical requirements requested by Protisa were covered by Industrias Ectricol, using Ormazabal CGM.3 cells for 36 kV with integral SF6 gas insulation installed in the substations, providing benefits such as space reduction, time optimization in the installation, minimum maintenance processes, leading to a 100% reliability of the service.
The installed cubicles in this project, have a control system, which guarantees the coordination of system protections. One key element was the use of Ekorp Relays, which allow safe protection of distribution transformers at a low cost. Likewise, these cubicles were left open so that in the future automation could be installed for remote monitoring and operation. This project is a representative example of the new investments that are entering the country and generating economic growth as well as new job opportunities. For Industrias Ectricol to participate in this type of projects with nationwide engineering and the support of Ormazabal, is highly satisfying.
